Postdoctoral Research Fellow, XL Catlin Seaview Survey
Manuel is lead scientist of the Shallow Reef Component of the XL Catlin Seaview Survey. He obtained his Bachelor of Biological Sciences (Honours) from the Universidad Central de Venezuela and completed his PhD in Ecology in the United Kingdom. He is using the photographic data collected by the XL Catlin Seaview Survey to determine coral reef rugosity, an indicator of the number, spread and health of coral reef habitats. His previous research has explored the putative effects of climate-change related alteration in temperature and CO2 concentration on the phenology of common invertebrates on the Great Barrier Reef.
