Paul joined the University of Queensland in January 2011 as senior lecturer in the School of Population Health. He has a special interest in environmental health research and teaching. Prior to joining the UQ, his career spanned 20 years with Universities in South Africa (1991 - 2010), where he held a range of academic positions (including Professor of Environmental Health) leading several research groups as part of research development at South African universities since 1997.
He has published more than 40 peer-reviewed journal articles, 10 publications in books, book chapters and peer-reviewed research reports. The majority of these are on topics related to water and human health in developing countries. He has presented or co-presented more than 80 papers and keynote addresses at national and interna- tional conferences.
He has completed more than 40 single and multi-year research projects related to health and environment - collaborating closely with service providers and industry. Since 2007 he been awarded research grants in excess of $4 million for environmental health research.
Paul until recently served as editor for, and is currently on the editorial board of Journal for Water and Health.
