Joe Lane has been a researcher in the School of Chemical Engineering for the past eight years, most recently with the UQ Dow Centre for Sustainable Engineering Innovation, and now also affiliated with GCI.
Joe’s professional background spans process engineering, water resource planning, and developing tools to incorporate environmental information into decision making.
His early research centred on the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology – analysing applied case studies in the urban water industry, but with a strong focus on developing improved datasets and impact assessment models for this task.
More recently, Joe led the UQ contribution to the IELab project – a collaboration between nine Australian research groups, developing innovative cloud-based tools for coupled environmental-economic analysis. That development work is now branching into applied analysis, focussing in particular on Australian food systems.
