Rachael is the Communications and Engagement Officer for the XL Catlin Seaview Survey project. She works with the Global Change Institute's (GCI) project partner Underwater Earth and GCI researchers to promote the scientific outcomes of the survey. Rachael has over 20 years’ communications and marketing experience in Brisbane, the UK and Tasmania. Originally from Brisbane, Rachael moved to Tasmania in 2004 and spent the following 7 years working in communications for the Tasmanian Government. It was during her time in Tasmania that she developed a keen interest in the science of oceans - inspired by Hobart’s thriving Antarctic marine science sector. In 2012, Rachael returned to Brisbane and furthered her experience in science communication at Brisbane’s Translational Research Institute (TRI), a unique, Australian-first initiative of ‘bench to bedside’ medical research. Rachael is delighted to be working at GCI on such an important global study to monitor the health of our coral reefs, combining her love of the ocean and her newfound passion for communicating science.
