Tanya Dodgen is the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) Project Coordinator at the Global Change Institute. She has a background in Biology (BSc Honors) and International Studies (BA) with coral reef restoration and field work experience in Puerto Rico, Madagascar, and the Great Barrier Reef.
With more than four years' experience tutoring and providing in-classroom assistance at high schools, Tanya is excited to combine her backgrounds in science and education to apply them to the newly emerging 'MOOC space,' with a goal of making high-quality science education accessible to as many people as possible.
As MOOC coordinator, Tanya has contributed to the development of the courses Tropical Coastal Ecosystems (available now) which has enrolled more than 15,000 students and Making Sense of Climate Science Denial which has enrolled more than 20,000 students and is still available.
In the future, Tanya will work with GCI on MOOCs and branch out into youtube videos answering questions about solutions to climate change.
Tanya will be part of a crew heading to COP21 in Paris in December 2015 to document the international negotiations on how to prevent the Earth from warming more that 2˚C.
